Blue

Jewelry world magazine

A jewelry magazine from Mexico, called Jewelry World (Mundo Joyero) contacted me because they want to interview me and have a several page spread on my jewelry, portraying me as an emerging jewelry designer. They will have a professional photographer shot my pieces, and a journalist will interview me via skype. They want a very small portrait of me, to publish along with the interview so I took some head shots wearing my favorite pieces. They say they saw an add my mom published online with a picture of one of my necklaces, they followed the links and fond me. Wow!

Mysticism

Mysticism (from the Greek μυστικός, mystikos, an initiate of a mystery religion) is the pursuit of communion with, identity with, or conscious awareness of an ultimate reality, divinity, spiritual truth, or God through direct experience, intuition, instinct or insight.

Nullification and absorption within God's Infinite Light (Hassidic schools of Judaism)
Deep intrinsic connection to ultimate reality (Satori in Mahayana Buddhism, Te in Taoism)
Union with God (Henosis in Neoplatonism and Brahma-Prapti or Brahma-Nirvana in Hinduism, fana in Sufism)
Theosis or Divinization, union with God and a participation of the divine nature (in Catholic Christianity and Eastern Orthodoxy)
Innate Knowledge, (Irfan and Sufism in Islam)
Experience of one's true blissful nature (Samadhi Svarupa-Avirbhava in Hinduism and Buddhism)
Seeing the Light, or "that of God", in everyone (Hinduism, Quakerism)
The Love of God (Hinduism, Baha'i Faith, Christianity, Islam)

Enlightenment or Illumination are generic English terms for the phenomenon, derived from the Latin illuminatio (applied to Christian prayer in the 15th century) and adopted in English translations of Buddhist texts, but used loosely to describe the state of mystical attainment regardless of faith. Entheogens have been traditionally used by many from various religions and cultures throughout the majority of every region of the world to help assist one with Mysticism.

Vintage Mary and child charm with divine child on the back, large rhinestone, fire polished Czech crystal beads, agate. 2 inches in length from the end of the hand-forged hooks.

For sale in my shop!

Must of last year's series in my Etsy shop is now for sale. This includes a lot of my doll necklaces - from last year - and some of the vintage elements. This year's work is full price, but I have been making some more reasonably priced pieces specially for my online shop, integrating the silk from Nepal. My work with Gemstones is priced the highest, but it is worth it because of all the gems and semiprecious stones I am integrating. Still, visit my shop to have a look at the sales.

Bone tribal bling earrings

The bones I found at the flea market. I have no idea what they were, but I liked them and made earrings out of them. The small garnets that hang from a chain are also from the flea market. I bought some rhinestone pieces as well, new necklaces to come. I am very happy that my friend Marina from fancifuldevices is back from her travels. It is always good to have an inspiring friend.

A shamanic medicine piece

Shamanism is an anthropological term referencing a range of beliefs and practices regarding communication with the spiritual world.[2] A practitioner of shamanism is known as a shaman (pronounced /ˈʃɑːmən/ "SHAH-men"or /ˈʃeɪmən/ "SHAY-men").[3] Shamanism encompasses the belief that shamans are intermediaries or messengers between the human world and the spirit worlds. Shamans are said to treat ailments/illness by mending the soul. Alleviating traumas affecting the soul/spirit restores the physical body of the individual to balance and wholeness. The shaman also enters supernatural realms or dimensions to obtain solutions to problems afflicting the community. Shamans may visit other worlds/dimensions to bring guidance to misguided souls and to ameliorate illnesses of the human soul caused by foreign elements. The shaman operates primarily within the spiritual world, which in turn affects the human world. The restoration of balance results in the elimination of the ailment.[4] This necklace is constructed using an elk's bone, a crystal I collected in my travels through the Himalayas, a small vial containing a tiny bone and a hessonite drop, small hessonite beads on one side and jasper beads in the other side, and it is all tied together with a ribbon of cream-colored fair trade silk from Nepal. The wire I used to connect the pieces is copper.

Alchemical child

I love the new elements I am integrating in my work. The sari silk has amazing colours, and the semiprecious stones are powerful and beautiful. This piece is my newest one, now on Etsy. The hair is made out of silk flowers, and the tassel hanging form the head is made of Opalite drops.

One side of the chain has green rhinestones, and the other side has faux vintage pearls and a shiny and lustrous purple sari silk ribbon.

The face still has dirt from having been buried in the ground for a hundred years, and I left it as is because I think that it adds to its antiqued beauty and sense of mystery.

Custom order

I just sold the piece below to someone in NY who asked me to make it for them. It was a fluke I had the pair of arms that she wanted. The image above is the photo she sent me, and the photo below is the piece I made for her, now in the mail to NYC.

Rose child

This is the first piece I make using the fare trade silk from Nepal... I really like the raggedy effect and the overall aesthetic of the piece. The glass drop with a rose sticker was given to me by my friend Marina from fancifuldevices. I am yet to write about my meeting with her in Chicago, and the revealing of her secrets. I will do that soon, I promise.

The white beads are coral that my mom got in Mexico.

The doll is German from the 1890s. I love working with these dolls.

Vial earrings

I made these vial earrings a while ago. they are made with tiny vintage vials and wax, filled with butterfly wing pieces and rhinestones. I love how they turned out, they shine. I love them so much I bought a small lot of antique vials of all sizes, I will start to integrate these in my work.

The numbers were already in the vials, and some of them had tiny watch parts and screws. Now in my etsy shop.

Sales

An owl piece from an old series...
A sparkly rhinestone and freshwater pearl composition with a lot of bling and elegance...

One of my newest pieces, the one that named my series "Synesthesia", with a lot of gemstones and swarovski crystals...
These pieces are now gone gone and in the hands (and necks) of lovely people.

Back from my travels

I am back from my three week vacation to Toronto, NY and Chicago... Sorry I hadn't posted anything in these three weeks, I had limited access to the internet. I had the honor and pleasure of meeting the beautiful and mysterious Marina from fanciful devices, one of my true art heroes and inspirations for art and life. The account of my visit with her will be posted at a later date along with some pictures I took of her wearing some of her awe-inspiring pieces. I also sold a few of my most interesting pieces to delightful people, so I am itching to go back to work on my craft after weeks of museums, folk art and galleries.
