More samples

Some of my new pieces I have been making these past few days.

Soldering samples

So I was showing Aviva my new soldered stuff, and she loved it and bought one of the pieces, which I didn't photograph. But here are some samples and previews of my new series, coming up this spring 2010.

On soldering and other new techniques

I am teaching myself to solder with a soldering iron and lead-free solder with a high content of silver, so that it really shines. All the equipment was an investment, and I found out that paying more really pays off in therms of quality of equipment and safety. I tried both a cheap and an expensive soldering iron, and the expensive one with interchangeable tips and a safety light was so much better, it was worth the price difference. I also went all out and bought an inland fume trap with coal filters, and a breathing mask. But lung cancer is not an option for me, I rather spend the money in all the equipment than regret it later.

Pictures to come...

I love my life.

Mukado Jewelry

So I now have two pieces in a jewelry gallery in Wast Vancouver, Mukado Jewelry. I like the pieces chosen, I hope they sell. Finally, a gallery in Vancouver is representing my work. To0 view this gallery click here.

My work is the only vintage stuff she has, everything else in the gallery is ultra-modern and sleek. I think that may work to my advantage, being unique is a good ting. I also make one of a kind pieces, nothing mass-produced. We will see! I am optimistic!

Vintage Venus Jewelry turns one year old

Today is the anniversary of my business. It has been a great long year, and I have sold a bunch of stuff. Recently a person in the Mexico City gallery circuit started to distribute my work, and I am making pieces that I like a lot more, more crafted, more mysterious. I am also using a lot more semiprecious stones, real pearls and lots of swarovski crystals. I can't wait to see what this year will bring in terms of inspiration and creation. Wearable art!
